RESEARCH

Research Summary

From the perspective of biomedical and therapeutic engineering researchers, the problems that arise during the set of processes for the development of biomaterial and biomedical devices to treat human diseases are generally multidisciplinary and thus require fundamental knowledge and insights based on a wide range of disciplines. In this regard, multidisciplinary training (D.V.M., Ph.D.) became a strength as a researcher working on therapeutic engineering for human health. These multidisciplinary backgrounds have enabled Dr. Kim to devise various ideas in terms of biocompatibility and safety evaluation, therapeutic efficacy evaluation, and bioengineering solutions for resolving issues in chronic human diseases.

Research Goal

The problems that arise during the set of processes for the development of biomaterial and biomedical devices to treat human diseases are generally multidisciplinary and thus require fundamental knowledge and insights based on a wide range of disciplines. Multidisciplinary research is currently ongoing, aiming at the treatment of human diseases through bioengineering strategies. These experiences are considered to be suitable for the educational and research goals of fostering creative application-based biomedical innovation pursued by the Department of Pathophysiology, College of Pharmacy at Korea University.
